Earthquake Advisory Board was established according to the Law N.5902

Main Duties of the Board

a) To provide consultancy on earthquake related issues to AFAD, to contribute and provide consultancy to AFAD on topics demanded by AFAD by providing policies and plans,

b) To deliver opinions about the activities on earthquake risk reduction and post-earthquake studies,

c) If deemed necessary, the Board may establish working groups on specific topics. More than one working group may be set up. The board may invite experts from outside of the Board.

Earthquake Advisory Board (Members)

1- Director-General of Prime Ministry, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority

2- Representative of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization

3- Director of Boğaziçi University, Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute

4- Director-General of General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration, Ministry of Energy and Natural Sources

5- Director of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey

6- Director of Turkish Red Crescent Society

7- 5 (Five) Academicians (10 Academicians are proposed by Council of Higher Education and five of them are assigned by the Director-General of AFAD)

8- 3 (Three) Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Representatives selected by the Director-General of AFAD.
